You earn 1 exp for every match you play with a clan leader but if you complete a clan achievement (found on your clan info sheet) you may ask for a roll for up to an extra 10 exp. That extra ammount will be listed on your achievement table under the "Exp earned" Column.

Certain achievements will have multipliers for the exp earned.

The rolls are done with the [ roll ] BBcode. Quoting the post will reveal if they used the roll BBcode or not. Ruling out fakes

How to earn	Exp Earned
Play a match with a clan leader	1 - per match
Complete a clan achievement	Random(10) x Achievement Multiplier
Impress clan leader in a match	3 - per match
Reffer someone to the clan**	1/4 of required exp to next rank
Exchange 7 forum points***	2 exp

** Be sure to have them say you reffered them to the forum to obtain the exp.
*** Forum Points are earned from posting in the forums. More are awarded for starting a topic. Any abuse of this system will have your forum points reset to 0.
